Seodong Medical’s ‘NURIEYE 5800’ Wins the 2022 South Korea 4th Industrial Revolution Leading Company Award.

On December 1st, at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, Seodong Medical (represented by Kim Chang-on) was awarded the Product Innovation Award at the Money Today ‘2022 South Korea 4th Industrial Revolution Leading Company Awards’ ceremony.

The ‘South Korea 4th Industrial Revolution Leading Company Awards’ aims to recognize outstanding companies that demonstrate social responsibility through differentiated technology, management, and products, aligning with the digital transformation trend of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Seodong Medical has been dedicated to developing solutions for eye diseases since its establishment in 1996. Their achievement, the ‘NURIEYE 5800,’ developed in 2008, is the only medical device for dry eye treatment approved for safety and efficacy through clinical data evaluation.

Until now, patients with dry eye syndrome have repeatedly visited ophthalmologists to receive eye drops and simple physical therapy prescriptions whenever symptoms occurred. The ‘NURIEYE 5800’ has undergone clinical trials with 144 subjects at Pusan National University Hospital and Inje University Busan Paik Hospital to treat and prevent dry eye syndrome and reduce intraocular pressure. It is officially recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and is used for non-reimbursed treatments (MZ013) at ophthalmic hospitals.

The ‘NURIEYE 5800’ uses vibration massage and air pressure massage to gently relax the muscles around the eyes, helping to improve nerve, blood vessel, and tear circulation. Additionally, it assists in melting debris on the eyes and stiffened fat secretion around the Meibomian glands inside the eyelids with warm thermal massage, aiding in tear circulation.

Seodong Medical emphasized, “Dry eye syndrome is not only a condition with its own suffering and difficulties but also a serious illness that can lead to cataracts, glaucoma, vision loss, visual field damage, depression, and lethargy if left untreated.” They highlighted the importance of using products with verified safety and efficacy, stating, “Eyes are one of the most precious parts of the body, so it is necessary to use products that have been verified for safety and efficacy.” Additionally, they added, “Many people perceive ‘presbyopia’ as an inevitable aging process and neglect it, but it is important to maintain healthy eyes through regular care.”

Seodong Medical is recognized for its technological expertise and safety through various patents (eye massagers, eye area massages, facial massages, etc.) and international certifications (US FDA) in addition to publications in prestigious journals such as the British Journal of Ophthalmology (BJO) with SCI papers.
